Ami Mizuno es una muchacha que asiste a la misma escuela que la protagonista de la serie, Usagi Tsukino. Usagi, quien ya había empezado a adoptar la identidad alterna como la guerrera Sailor Moon, descubre que Ami tiene el poder de transformarse en otra guerrera justiciera, Sailor Mercury.
